An MC Hailing from Botswana,
in Southern Africa, a drummer possibly
with
special musical training from the army’s elite core and a
baritoneguitar with miscellaneous electronic enhancements.
These are the ingredients of jazz musician Tao
Hoejgaards latest live act constelletion EDGE NERVE AND
THRASH a rock´n´roll hiphop jazz trio with a leaning towards
heavy, gesticulate performances and the vigorous, energetic
and explosive.
The trio has explained that despite not having a bass
player,
the guitarists takes on the role of using his versatility to
also play basslines. A baritone guitar assisited with a a
small magical gadget called an octave pedal can actually
play all sixteen tones deeper than a normal guitar. This
gives the guitarist the possibility of alternating between
playing normally and switching to low octaves simply by
pressing a pedal.
The code word EDGE NERVE AND THRASH can be decyphered
and described simply as an arsenal of original compositions
that all more or less contain edge, nerve and thrash. Head
nodding oldschool beats that bang with rythm modulation,
a touch of metal and rap recitation, filled with a punch of
jazz improvisation giving birth to the motto Freestyle, free
expression, free beer!

Tao Hoejgaard DJazZ
experience is in essence a classic jazz quartet, but as the name
implies, there is a modern element added to the group. The
drummer who is normally found within a jazz group is replaced by
the DJ who supplies the rhythm via samples, beats from vinyl,
and other electronic devices. The group came about from a
coincidental meeting between a jazz musician and a DJ who needed
to record some studio takes. Since then, this collaboration has
turned into a steady band, hence the name Tao Hoejgaard DJazZ
experience. In the past decade, there has been many occasions
where jazz has cooperated with DJs and electronic music, but
rarely has a steady constellation formed from these outings.
Because of the music's blend of funky hip hop and curious jazz,
one is tempted to pronounce the band's name as "Djaaaaazzzz".
This is also credited to the bands intention of always looking
for the innovative while still keeping an overall "groove" to
the music. Occasionally, Tao Hoejgaard DJazZ experience performs
as a quintet with the addition of Chisala, who adds an extra "kick"
to the group with his rap and toastin'. The members of the group
are: Henrik Bolberg: #1 solo trumpet for Denmarks Radio Big Band
Tao Hoejgaard: One of the most established jazz guitarists in
Denmark. Kristor Broedsgaard: An award winning bass player who
is also a well known name on the jazz scene. ScratchMagic: The
turntable wizard from “Nobody beats the beats” A well respected
DJ who has been keeping busy since 1992 with various projects in
Denmark and abroad.
